Patient Care

Ayah / Patient Attendant

Candidate placement support for personal care, hygiene, feeding, mobility and companionship at home.

attendant ayah take care a female patient
Ayah and patient-attendant placements support day-to-day personal care such as hygiene assistance, feeding, mobility help and companionship according to the client requirement. If a duty includes medication assistance, it must follow the client or treating professional's instructions and must not be treated as independent prescribing, diagnosis or clinical decision-making by an unqualified attendant. Where clinical nursing is required, the client should request a suitably qualified nursing candidate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Ayah / Patient Attendant

What does an Ayah / Patient Attendant generally support?

The agreed scope may include personal hygiene, feeding support, repositioning or mobility assistance, companionship and other routine daily-care activities.

Is an Ayah the same as a nurse?

No. An Ayah or patient attendant is a non-nursing support role unless that individual is specifically presented with relevant nursing qualification documents.

Can medication assistance be included?

Only within the agreed role and instructions of the client or treating medical professional. An unqualified attendant must not independently diagnose, prescribe or change dosage.

Can I request a nursing candidate instead?

Yes. If the required scope is clinical, choose the Nurse & GDA Placement service so that qualification-appropriate profiles can be considered.
